The Tropical Forest Finance Facility (TFFF) is an innovative, large-scale climate finance mechanism designed to generate long-term financial flows for tropical forest countries through a pay-for-performance model. By leveraging global capital markets, the TFFF has the potential to mobilize billions annually for forest protection without increasing fiscal pressure on participating countries.

At a time when global climate finance needs exceed trillions per year—and less than 1% of funding reaches Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs), ensuring equitable access to these resources is critical.

This closed-door event will launch a new guide on the TFFF tailored to IPLCs, translating its structure, opportunities, and risks into accessible and actionable insights. The discussion will focus on how to ensure that IPLCs, who have protected tropical forests for generations, are at the center of implementation, governance, and benefit-sharing.

Bringing together representatives from government, the World Bank, and global IPLC alliances, the session will foster a strategic dialogue on scaling climate finance while advancing equity, inclusion, and forest stewardship.
