[COP31 | RCF Pavilion | In-Person] Country Platforms Compared: Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Indonesia
Amid declining development assistance and shrinking financial support for developing economies, emerging countries (e.g., Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and Indonesia) are advancing new models to enhance coordination across their financial systems and expand their capacity to mobilise resources for mitigation, adaptation, energy transition, conservation, and resilient development. Country Platforms have emerged as one of the most promising mechanisms for translating climate commitments into concrete investments and on-the-ground implementation.
Yet the scale, speed, and depth of progress vary significantly across countries because of structural differences in institutional capacity, fiscal space, and access to international finance. This panel brings together senior voices from Regional Climate Foundations to compare experiences, identify what enables (or constrains) Country Platforms as a climate finance mobilisation tool, and draw lessons to accelerate their implementation across the Global South.
